About
I'm Dana. I design and make jewelry that is ever so playful and drenched in color. I want the people who wear my jewelry to put it on and smile the rest of the day. I find inspiration in color and nature. I bring that into my studio where I draw, cut, saw, sift, and torch it into beautiful jewelry.
I primarily work in enamel which is finely ground glass fused to metal with a torch. It creates a glassy shiny surface of vibrant color. I also work in Argentium Silver which is made from recycled silver. It is tarnish resistant and ethically sourced.
Take a Quick Tour of My Studio with Me
My first “studio” was the dining room table. It wasn’t ideal. I tidied up all my supplies every night so that you didn’t just see a mess when you walked into the front door. Then I upgraded to a workbench inside a guest-room closet with bi-pass doors where I introduced a small torch. It was so exciting getting to work with fire. But the fact that I was standing on hardwood floors was problematic. Next up came a nook in the garage and bigger torches.
While I loved all of these spaces, this latest interaction is by far my favorite. I’m still in the garage, but I’ve expanded and yes, added an oxy-propane torch. I almost doubled my counter space. It’s the perfect size. I can be sitting at my fire table and reach around to the workbench to grab a pair of pliers if I need to.
I like to be organized so my husband built a wonderfully flexible french cleat system for my tools and supplies. Since I make colorful jewelry, I envisioned a colorful space, but it evolved into this light airy space. I love it. It’s a clean palette so I can focus on the color of the jewelry. One of my favorite things is the large DBJ logo over my workbench. And I have to mention these fabulous antique windows that I bought from a guy who installs new windows. They are like a beautiful hug around the space.
