FAQs
What is enamel?
Enamel is finely ground glass fused to metal using heat. The two products become one and are quite durable. It stands up to every day wear. It will survive most drops. Now if you drop and run over it with your car, it will likely crack. It doesn’t require any maintenance. You can wipe it with a clean dry cloth if it gets fingerprints on it. This will restore the glossy shine. I enamel over copper. The glass completely covers the metal so no copper touches your skin.
What is gold fill?
The gold-filled products I use are 14K gold layered over a core of jewelers’ brass. By law 1/20th or 5% of the material must be gold. Thus it is often termed 14/20. There is also a 12/20 version but I don’t use that.
The good news is that everything that touches your skin is 14K gold. So as far as your skin is concerned, it might as well be fully gold. It won’t turn your skin green, and it rarely tarnishes. It doesn’t contain any nickel, and it doesn’t flake off. The best news is that the piece won’t turn silver. We’ve all bought a piece of jewelry that after a few wears starts fading into a silver-ish shade. That is gold plate which I don't use.
Tell me about the Silver you use
I use two different types of silver:
1. Sterling Silver which is a blend of 92.5% silver and 7.5% of other metals. Sterling does tarnish a bit over time. Simply use a jewelry polishing cloth to wipe it clean.
2. Argentium Silver which is 93.5% silver and 6.5% of other metals. One of the best things about Argentium is that it is tarnish resistant and it is responsibly made from recycled silver. It is also hypoallergenic.

How do I care for my enamel jewelry?
The enamel itself doesn’t require any maintenance. You can wipe it with a clean dry cloth if it gets fingerprints on it. This will restore the glass shine. If the silver begins to tarnish, just wipe it with a jewelry polishing cloth.
